Ideas For Spring Cleaning Before Listing Your Taos Home For Sale

If you’re not quite ready to list your Taos home for sale with us, but want to get a head start on spring cleaning to improve curb appeal, we have some ideas for you! Spring is almost here. These maintenance projects can help your house sell faster.

Clear Out Gutters

You should start by clearing out your gutters that they can handle any rain that might come our way. You could have pine needles, branches and other debris in your gutters, even if you just cleaned them last fall. It’s not a fun job, but it’s important. Make sure to scrape out as much of the debris as you can by hand. Then, take a hose and hose off the rest. Check all downspouts for clogs and check to make sure that they are still directing water away from your Taos home’s foundation.

Check Your Fences

Make sure any fences on your Taos property are still secure by walking along the perimeter and doing a visual check. This is especially important if you have pets or children that play in the yard to keep them secure and keep wildlife out! Then, rake leaves and sticks away from the base of the fence. Hose off any mud. If your wooden fence is painted, just check to see if it needs any touch ups to stay nice and fresh.

Window Cleaning

Cleaning windows is absolutely worth the effort when you’re selling your home. It will help bring a nice shine into the house and from the outside, they will sparkle. Clean windows indicate that you are on top of home maintenance, because it’s one chose that people often skip over. If you want to do the job yourself, you’ll need a squeegee, a few rags, a good cleaning solution and a lot of time. If you can afford it, you might consider just hiring a service. It’s usually not a costly investment and they will usually do a better job anyway.

Spring Clean Your Gardens & Flower Beds

Check all your flower beds and under any shrubbery and you’ll find debris. You can either just cover with new mulch or rake this material out.  If you’re not using mulch, then, pull any leaves out for a fresher look. Also, get out the pruners and cut back summer blooming trees like crape myrtle, butterfly bush, and hybrid tea roses. Also prune evergreens and any branches that are broken or diseased from all greenery.
