New Mexico Home Staging Trends And Buyer Preferences Trends

When considering home staging trends in New Mexico, it’s important to remember that these are just trends. In reality, every home for sale in New Mexico requires something different. There is no one perfect home stager for every home either. Still, there are home staging trends in different areas of the country. In New Mexico, we’ve been seeing certain trends hanging out as well as indications of future trends too.

New Mexico has so many different eco-systems, especially right here in Northern New Mexico. This puts a different lens on home staging trends over some of the less ecologically diverse areas of the country. Generally speaking though, in New Mexico, homebuyers are looking for an updated modern feel. They absolutely want clean, de-cluttered homes, but home buyers looking for homes for sale in Angel Fire, Taos, and the surrounding areas want natural elements incorporated. They are looking for neutral colors like tan, cream, white and grey. Yet, they also want texture from natural plants that reflect our area and the Southwest as a whole. Adding natural greenery is one way to appeal to New Mexico home buyers.

Home Staging Trends To Expect This Year In New Mexico

A trend that we expect to see grow is the desire for kitchens that open to the outdoors. Especially here in the most gorgeous place on earth, nestled in the mountains, surrounded by forest, but also drylands nearby, home buyers want to better appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. Kitchens that have sets of doors that open up to an outdoor living area like a patio is extremely desirable, especially for millennial buyers who have become the largest generation of homebuyers. We should even expect to see people seeking out homes with window walls that allow for the outdoor living area and the kitchen to combine into one larger open area.

New Mexico buyers will increasingly be looking for green tech like thermostats that they can access from their mobile devices and window blinds that are powered and controlled by the placement of the sun. Buyers will also be looking for eco-friendly material like reclaimed wood. Speaking of wood, we just saw a greater demand for wood vanities in home staging and this trend is expected to grow this year. Wood vanities that are made of light wood with visible grain and knots and also reclaimed wood will be increasingly in demand while offset by crisp, clean white walls, especially in bathrooms.
