If you’re an entrepreneur with a small business and are interested in opening up in the Town of Taos, you must register the business. Don’t worry though. It’s an easy process and completely affordable.
What Types Of Businesses Must Register In Taos?
The business registration fee can’t be prorated for a portion of the year, unfortunately. But, again, the fee is only $35. The following types of businesses must register and pay a registration fee of $35.00:
- Local places of business
- Contractors performing services for the town
- Businesses performing services for the town
What Types Of Businesses Don’t Have To Pay To Register In Taos?
Some business types are exempt from the registration fee. Those businesses include the following:
- Persons participating in the annual Taos Fiestas who have permission to participate.
- Those participating in the annual Taos Festival of the Arts who have permission to participate.
- Persons participating in a farmers’ market who have permission to participate.
- Nonprofit organizations
- Contractors or businesses with contracts for less than $5,000.
How Often Do You Need To Pay The Business Registration Fee In Taos?
Those who need to register should do so before March 16th of each year. If you haven’t applied and paid by March 16th but you are operating a business anyway, there’s a late fee, plus you could be fined.
