It’s generally a good idea to get a vehicle history report, but it’s an even better idea to get one if you’re unfamiliar with the place that’s selling you the used car!
What Does A Vehicle History Report Show?
A vehicle history report (VHR) is sometimes called a VIN check. It can give you all sorts of information about the used car you’re thinking of buying. First you will need to know the car’s vehicle identification number (VIN). It goes into detail about the car’s history. Sometimes they are free, and sometimes you can pay for a more detailed Vin check. Here are a few things that a VIN check can tell you.:
- Liens against the car
- Maintenance
- Previous ownership
- Title history
- If it’s suffered flood damage
- If it’s been coined a lemon
- Faulty odometer
- History of airbag deployments
- Previous accidents
So again, it’s always a good idea to check the history of the car you intend to buy to make sure you’re not making a purchase you will soon regret. It’s an even better idea to get one if you’re not familiar with the person selling the car.
