Snow Skier’s Responsibilities In Angel Fire, NM

In 1989, the Village of Angel Fire created an ordinance called the “Snow Skier Responsibility Act.” This ordinance makes it illegal for any skier to ski in a manner that is so reckless it endangers the life, limb or property of anyone. It says that skiers have the responsibility to ski in a safe and reasonable manner. Skiers must be able to stop and avoid other skiers and objects. If they can’t, they are not skiing safely enough.

Under snow skier’s responsibilities, it also includes not entering areas closed to the public or crossing ski area boundaries. You also can’t remove or wreck signs that close off areas to the public.

If you’re skiing in Angel Fire and you do happen to see someone collide into someone else and get hurt, this ordinance calls for you to stop to check on other skiers. Then, you must notify or have someone notify ski patrol about the accident. Plus, you have to stay there until ski patrol arrives. These things are all what you’d expect in a vehicle collision. In Angel Fire, they are also snow skier’s responsibilities.
