Teen Drivers Relocating To New Mexico
If you’re relocating to New Mexico with a teen driver, you can actually have the teen’s driver’s license transfered, provided that the teen went through driving training in your old home state that meets or exceeds the New Mexico graduated driver licensing program requirements.
Teen Drivers Licensing Requirements
Teen drivers new to the state must transfer their out-of-state driver’s license after establishing residency in New Mexico. Then, they will have to visit the local New Mexico MVD office and provide the following:
- One document proving their social security number
- One document proving their identity
- Two documents proving their new residency
The teen will obviously need to surrender their out-of-state driver’s license.
Additionally they must pass a vision exam. They may also need to pass a written and road skills test, but they might be able to avoid that. They will also need to provide a $15 payment for a DWI records check fee and the licensing fee. The licensing fee is $18 for four years or $34 for eight years.
